I finally have the PHOTO ALBUMS online again, and now I have to bring them up to date. I still need to fix the sidebar menu on that page.

The PHOTO ALBUMS, which are on a second website, have been transferred to my new hosting company, and I'm having trouble getting the site set up properly. I'll have them online ASAP.

I have just moved the website to a new hosting company, and some of the sidebar menus do not look and work as they should. Please bear with me until I can get them corrected.

After many headaches, and a major rebuilding of the computer, everything is back to "normal" which means that everything is working as it's supposed to ... for the moment.
01-03-03
I had a major crash of my primary computer Christmas night, and have yet to get it back up and running. As a result, all updates to the
website are on hold indefinitely, as I do not have access to the program with which I maintain the site, and all changes must be made "by
hand". I had expected to have pictures of Wendy and Garrett's wedding posted by now, but those are on hold, as well. My sincere apologies, and I hope to be back in business soon.

Spent the last four days in Boston, for the wedding of eldest son Garrett and Wendy Lee Guild. It rained the whole weekend, unfortunately, but that didn't seem to dampen anyone's spirits. Guests came from all over the country, as well as from London, England, and a good time was had by all. Daughter Carolyn was one of the bridesmaids, and son Jeff was best man. Pictures will be posted ASAP.

Where to begin? The insurance company finally came through on the stolen Acura, and I received about half of what I had originally paid for
the car, which was seven years old. It's been a busy spring. I bought a new computer in March, and I've spent much of my time trying to
figure out what makes Windows XP Pro tick. Spent a week on Sanibel Island, west of Ft. Myers Florida during spring break, and Mothers Day weekend in Boston with my elder son Garrett and his fiancée Wendy Guild. They'll marry on 12 October in Winthrop Massachusetts, where they live.
I have two Barn Swallows nesting atop my porch light. See the BARN SWALLOWS link on the PHOTO ALBUMS page.

Today I took delivery of my 2002 Toyota Highlander Limited, which I call the "Green Machine", for obvious reasons. It's a mid-sized, 4 wheel drive, V6 powered SUV (Sport-Utility Vehicle, for those who might not know), with just about every bell and whistle you can think of. For details, see the TOYOTA HIGHLANDER link on the PHOTO ALBUMS page.
I still have not received a settlement offer from my insurance company for the loss of the Acura.

Yesterday my insurance company declared my stolen Acura Integra a total loss, clearing the way for me to obtain some new wheels. I've decided I need a larger, more comfortable mode of transportation, and am awaiting the arrival of my new 2002 Toyota Highlander, a mid-sized SUV. Details to follow.

Yesterday I received my monthly statement from Verizon Wireless, and from it I can tell that my car probably was stolen during the early morning hours of Saturday, 29 December. Between 4:58 AM on that date and 3:20 PM on Sunday, 30 December, when Verizon suspended service on my cellphone, the thieves used my phone 215 times, including 13 inbound calls. Fortunately, my service plan included 3000 free weekend minutes, and they didn't come even close to using that.

While Kathy and I were spending a weekend in New York City between Christmas and New Years, to do some shopping and see a show (Mamma Mia! and 42nd Street were sold out, so we saw The Music Man), my 1995 Acura Integra GS-R hatchback was stolen from east 89th Street, in Manhattan, sometime between 2:30 PM on Friday, 28 December and 1:00 PM on Sunday, 30 December. I immediately reported the theft to the NYPD, USAA (United Services Automobile Assn, my insurance company), as well as to Verizon Wireless (my cellphone was in the car).
The following Friday evening, 4 January, the claims adjuster at USAA called to say that the car had been recovered by the Elizabeth NJ Police Department, but the only information he had was that the interior was "extensively damaged", the seats were "missing", the steering column was "broken", and the car was "disabled". The towing company's office was closed over the weekend, so nothing could be done until Monday morning, but then I spent a frustrating day on the telephone talking to various people at the Police Department, the towing company, and the insurance company, as I was trying to avoid an unnecessary trip to NJ, and I seemed to be getting contradictory information as to what was required to get the car released.
Yesterday (Tuesday, 8 January), Joe Brogden (Kathy's brother) and I drove to Elizabeth, which is just south of Newark International Airport, so that I could personally produce the title to the car to prove ownership and sign the necessary paperwork at the Police Department. Then I was free to inspect the car at the towing company's lot. I was somewhat prepared for what I found, but I almost cried when I saw what had been done to "My Little Red Car". At the same time, it was difficult not to laugh, because of the apparent selectivity that had been exercised in stripping the car. To get a better idea, see the pictures posted at the ACURA INTEGRA link on the PHOTO ALBUMS page.
Fortunately, we lost no suitcases or clothing, but Kathy's E-ZPass had to be replaced, and I am missing numerous items that I normally carried in the car, including my cellphone and its adapter, and my prescription sunglasses. The only thing the thieves left behind was a combination squeegee/ice scraper, although I did find the license plates in a plastic bag in the trunk.
I know that I'm fortunate no one was hurt, and that the damages are only to property and to my wallet, but to say that I feel violated by the whole business is an understatement. And, I am particularly galled by the fact that the battery and three of the tires were less than three months old!!!
